Whilst the golden colour of this style suggests they may be lagers, they are complex and strong top fermented ales. ‘Duvel’ the Flemish for the devil, is the most well known. Deceptive in their strength as they are all light on the palate.

Fruit Beers Lambic Base
Brewing of ‘Lambic’ is only done in a small area near Brussels, by only a few brewers, fermentation depends upon wild yeasts in the atmosphere. When fruit is added, a further fermentation occurs resulting in a champagne like beer. The beer with no fruit is called Gueuze.
